ASL Classes

American Sign Language or ASL is one of the most commonly used languages in the U.S. In this class, you will learn its communication alphabet, how to engage in basic conversation and about Deaf culture. We start with nothing and build your skills from there.

Class Update

Hello families!

The Center for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Youth (CDHY) is excited to offer free, online ASL classes for parents and families of D/hh students in Washington State!

These classes are intended for adult (and teen) learners. Classes will meet once a week for one hour on Zoom for 8 weeks, beginning the week of September 27th and ending the week of November 21st. There will be a variety of days and times available that you will be able to look at when you register! Small class sizes, with a maximum of 5 families per class, will provide plenty of opportunities to learn, practice, and connect.

Registration opens August 31st and spaces will be filled on a first come, first served basis.

Birth-3 Family ASL Classes

Class dates coming soon.

These classes are designed for Washington State families with deaf or hard of hearing children, ages 0–3. This course will meet once a week for one hour via Zoom. There is no cost to register. For questions or more information, please contact Melissa Klindtworth at melissa.klindtworth@cdhy.wa.gov.

Family ASL Classes
