About Rachel

Hello, I am Rachel Davis. I am deaf as I was born with it. I grew up with 3 siblings with my parents in an old Victorian house. I grew up with lots of activities among my family and friends. I started school at the age of 3 through a program for deaf which uses sign language with speech therapy. They were able to accept children at a young age so they have better access to the language since my parents didn’t know the language. I continued my education through public school and college. I played sports from elementary school through high school. I played soccer and softball for many years. I did few different jobs with ASL through the school and club. This will be my 5th year with CDHY. I enjoy the job very much because there are many different perspectives about ASL and will never stop learning. I am not a good lip reader at all, I am 99.99% deaf. When there’s some noises going on, I know by feeling the vibrations or observing the surroundings. I have been married for 25 years and have 2 boys and 2 girls. Being a wife and mother is what I’ve always wanted to be when I grow up and am fortunately to be one. I enjoy many hobbies with my family. Going on road trips, skiing, swimming, boating, and staying at home with my family.
