This presentation will focus on providing interpreters and teachers working with deaf and hard of hearing students help in understanding their role and responsibilities in the educational environment. Each classroom situation is uniquely designed based on the needs of the student, however, decision-making is vital for teachers, interpreters, and students to understand who is responsible for each part and why. Participants will understand how the roles of interpreter, teacher, and students shift and change over time. This workshop will focus on creating an educational environment with the long-term goal of seeing deaf graduates become productive, independent thinking members of their communities. For Interpreters, General Education teachers, Special Education teachers, administrators, SLPs, and Para educators.
